ClientFence Is Now Open Source: Free Billing for Enhance Hosts

ClientFence is now open source. Glass invoices and a client portal card on dark stone in ClientFence blue.

ClientFence, the billing and client portal we build for hosting businesses, is now open source. The code is on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license, and ClientFence is free to use on your own server.

It is built for hosts that run the Enhance control panel: orders, invoices, payments, Enhance hosting accounts, domains and support tickets in one client area.

What ClientFence Does

  • Billing: invoices with part payments, account credit and part refunds, an optional “prices include tax” mode, payment receipts and cancellation requests. Stripe, PayPal and a manual payment gateway are built in.
  • Enhance hosting: each hosting account has its own client pages, including Enhance backups, and a daily status check compares every service with its Enhance subscription.
  • Domains: a Dynadot registrar module.
  • Support: tickets with file attachments, and ticket secrets: server logins a client adds to a ticket are stored encrypted and opened only by staff with that permission.
  • Accounts and staff: authorized users with their own permissions, two-factor sign-in, Google sign-in, and staff groups with detailed permissions.
  • Languages: 30 languages, with right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Hebrew and Persian.

Moving from WHMCS

The WHMCS import copies clients, products, services, invoices and tickets from a WHMCS database into a fresh ClientFence install. It only reads the WHMCS database: nothing changes in WHMCS, and nothing is emailed, charged or created on a server. The import guide walks through it.

Updates

New releases appear under System → Update with their notes. The Update button backs up the database and the files it replaces, installs the release and finishes the database update. The daily release check sends nothing about your site, and nothing else calls home.

Get Started

ClientFence is based on FOSSBilling and runs on PHP 8.3 to 8.5 with MySQL or MariaDB.
