Add a new server IP to your license

When you install cPFence v4+ on a new server, the license is accepted only after the server’s IP address is on the license. Until then, cpfence --install-license and cpfence --status report:

The license was not accepted for this server: the key is wrong or this server's IP address is not on the license.

Check that you copied the right key from the client area, then follow the steps for your license type.

  1. Add the new server to your Enhance cluster.

  2. On the main control panel server, run:

    Terminal window
    cpfence --sync-ips

Or, in the main control panel server’s WebUI, choose Local, then Tools & Utilities → System Utilities → Sync server IPs (per-website license only) → Sync IPs.

  3. Wait for Sync completed. Response from server: success.

  4. On the new server, run cpfence --install-license cPFence-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with your key in place of the placeholder.

  5. Check cpfence --status for an Active license.

The main control panel server also syncs automatically every six hours. More details: Sync IPs for a per-website license.

  1. Open a support ticket for the bulk license service with the new server’s IP address.
  2. Wait for support to confirm that the IP was added.
  3. On the new server, run cpfence --install-license cPFence-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with your key in place of the placeholder.
  4. Check cpfence --status for an Active license.

If the license is still rejected after these steps, see If a license is rejected or open a support ticket with the exact error. Keep your key private.
