Block or unblock an email subject

Open Spam AutoShield and choose the mail server whose policy you want to inspect. The master must be on for stored entries to take effect; see the illustrated Spam AutoShield guide.

Spam AutoShield Block Subject form with blank Value, subject-text helper, Current server target and Review summary.

Review the unwanted subject and target server. This blank form has not added an entry. Select the image to enlarge it; use your browser's Back command to return.
  1. Click Add entry and choose Block.
  2. Set Entry type to Subject and enter the unwanted subject text.
  3. Choose Apply to, review the servers, then click Add blocked entry.
  4. Read every server’s result and refresh the intended list.

To remove the block, filter List and Type, find the exact value, and use Remove on the displayed server. Review its confirmation and result.

Use the complete unwanted subject and inspect legitimate messages with similar wording before applying it.

From a root terminal on the intended mail server, block an unwanted subject, for example:

Terminal window
cpfence --add-spam-autoshield-subject "Cheap pills"

Remove the same entry when appropriate:

Terminal window
cpfence --del-spam-autoshield-subject "Cheap pills"

Replace the example with the intended subject and keep quotes around spaces. If you omit the subject, the command prompts for it. These commands update this server’s policy, not the WebUI’s Apply to selection. Read the result and refresh its subject list.

Use the complete unwanted subject and check legitimate messages before applying it. The subject map is evaluated as a pattern, so do not assume a short phrase or pattern characters match only one exact subject. Pair it with a verified sender address or domain block for recurring campaigns. Removing one subject entry does not remove other matching blocks.
